 <title>Moody Elected Chair of Education Funding Study Committee</title>

 <description>&lt;p&gt;Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle has appointed State Sen. Dan Moody (R-Johns Creek) to be the chairman of the Senate Education Funding Mechanisms Review Study Committee. Cagle touts Moody&#039;s strength and dedication. &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;“Senator Moody will lead the Education Funding Study with strength as chairman,” said Cagle. “He is dedicated to his constituents and has worked diligently in the Senate.  I look forward to seeing the results this study panel produces for our state.”&lt;/p&gt;

 <title>The Avenue Forsyth Awards Two Scholarships </title>

 <description>&lt;p&gt;Two students from South Forsyth High School, Meghan Tereniak and Alex Hensley were awarded $1,000 scholarships from The Avenue Forsyth. The students who designed an advertising campaign for The Avenue&#039;s grand opening. The Avenue is currently implementing the advertising strategies proposed by the students.&lt;/p&gt;

 <title>Alpharetta, Dunwoody Welcome New Principals</title>

 <description>&lt;p&gt;School is out for the summer, but when students at two local schools return in August they will be greeted with new faces. &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The Fulton County School System has the appointed of two new principals to two North Fulton Schools. Ivy Gainey is the new principal of Dunwoody Springs Charter Elementary School, and Mary Anne Charron will now serve as principal of Alpharetta High School.&lt;/p&gt;

 <title>Girls Rule</title>

&lt;p&gt;Each year millions of high school seniors walk across the stage to receive their diploma. In the coming weeks, students from the community will graduate from high school, leaving home to seek jobs or education away from home. &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;This week, a sunny Wednesday morning Sarah Ryu and Shubhi Goyal donned their caps and gowns for the first time. The two girls smile as a camera shutters and captures their last images as high school seniors. &lt;/p&gt;

 <title>&#039;Implausible&#039; Test Scores Thrown Out </title>

 <description>&lt;p&gt;Georgia schools are preparing themselves for a big blow when official Criterion-Referenced Competency Test (CRCT) scores are released this summer. State Superintendent of Schools Kathy Cox released a statement on May 20 expressing her concerns over low scores in Math and Social Studies, by the following day Cox and her staff made the decision to throw out the results of two social studies tests.&lt;/p&gt;

 <title>Local Schools Rank Among Best in Nation </title>

 <description>&lt;p&gt;Newsweek Magazine has released their annual report of the top 1,300 public schools in the nation, and 45 Georgia schools have mad the list. &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The ranking is based on the number of Advanced Placement students, Baccalaureate and/or Cambridge tests taken by students in 2007. Other factors include subsidized lunch percentages and graduating seniors with at least one passing AP exam. &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Many local high schools made the list: &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;325&lt;/strong&gt; -Milton High School&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;strong&gt;347&lt;/strong&gt; -Northview High School&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;strong&gt;529&lt;/strong&gt; -Roswell High School&lt;/p&gt;

 <title>School Rezoning Attracts Large Crowd</title>

 <description>&lt;p&gt;Groups of parents clustered around maps hanging on the walls of the gymnasium at Autry Mill Middle School Monday night to get a first glimpse of proposed 2009 attendance areas prepared by the Fulton County Schools staff. The school rezoning is driven by the new Johns Creek Hospital being constructed on State Bridge at Medlock Bridge Road.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Four attendance alternatives were created as a result of an earlier parent meeting, small breakout groups and e-mail suggestions.&lt;/p&gt;

 <title>Pernice Named Ocee Elementary Principal</title>

 <description>&lt;p&gt;Deborah Pernice has been named Ocee Elementary School’s new principal. She will replace Jan Linscott, who is retiring at the end of the school year.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Pernice is currently the assistant principal at Medlock Bridge Elementary School. Before moving to Georgia in 1993, she taught elementary school in New York for 12 years. She also was a teacher and special education assistant at Crabapple Crossing Elementary School and a teacher at Sweet Apple Elementary School. She joined Medlock Bridge as an assistant principal in 2004.&lt;/p&gt;
