Join Upper Chattahoochee Riverkeeper for the fourth cleanup of Lake Lanier. Even with the recent rains, there are still years of trash exposed - cans, bottles, and untold treasure. The clean up will take place directly behind the Welcome Center. Bring heavy duty work gloves, dress to get wet and dirty, wear boots or old shoes. Bags will be provided. All participants must sign a waiver. Children are welcome but must be supervised closely.

Alpharetta Recreation and Parks Department’s 10th Annual Touch-a-Truck event will take place on Saturday, April 19, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at North Park. Children can see, touch and explore their favorite big trucks and vehicles.

Children can visit the “Kids Zone” where they can jump on inflatables, get an air brush tattoo, create sand art, and get an animal balloon. Food vendors will sell food and drinks. On Thursday, May 1 the Kiwanis Club of Duluth will host its 19th Annual Charity Golf Tournament at St. Marlo Country Club in Duluth. The tournament is the Club's largest fund raising event of the year. All proceeds are used to provide financial grants to local children's charities.

Thousands of local residents will unite on Mother’s Day weekend to participate in the 2008 Komen Atlanta Race for the Cure on Saturday, May 10, at Atlantic Station. The Greater Atlanta Affiliate anticipates the event will raise a record $1.5 million with more than 15,000 participants.

Participants will begin the Race in front of the Wachovia building. The 5K route crosses the 17th Street Bridge, winds through midtown and back to the mini-city of Atlantic Station.

The 2008 Kaiser Permanente Corporate Run/Walk & Fitness Program debuts this year with the very first Captain's Kickoff on Tuesday, May 13 at the Park Tavern from 6-8 p.m.
