The Gwinnett County Public Library proudly presents the second annual Gwinnett Reading Festival scheduled from 10 am – 4 pm on Saturday, October 18 at the Gwinnett County Fairgrounds. The festival is a free event to encourage the love of reading and to promote literacy in our community. Join CNC volunteer naturalist, Jerry Hightower for an interpretative canoe paddle from Morgan Falls Dam to Paces Mill (9.3 river miles). Good for beginners, intermediate and advanced paddlers. This trip is not suitable for those who have never canoed on a river before. CNC offers guided trips to gain experience. We will caravan from CNC. Bring water and a pack lunch. Snacks will be provided.

We are having a Wine Tasting/Dinner/Auction for the Georgia Prostate Cancer Coalition at Luciano’s Italian Restruant on October 21 and we would appreciate you including our event in your calendar of events for October. Sebastiano Capponi, the wine maker from Calcinaia Winery in the Tuscany region of Italy will be at the event. We will have 5 wines pared with a 5 course dinner. All proceeds will go to the Georgia Prostate Cancer Coalition.

On Saturday, Oct. 25, from 1-6 p.m., bring out the entire family for some fall fun at the Life is Good Pumpkin Festival at Sterling on the Lake in Flowery Branch, Ga.

Sterling on the Lake joins other Newland communities across the country for this third annual festival which benefits programs that help kids facing unfair challenges, through programs like HomeAid and Project Joy.

International Night at Northview High School is open to Chamber members at no cost
to provide food items, artifacts, clothing, music and any other items that can
help the general public gain a better appreciation and understanding of the

Bulky Recycling and Trash Day in Johns Creek is Saturday, November 22 from 8 am-1 pm at Ocee Park.

Throughout the year, Northside Hospital hosts community blood drives at each
of its hospitals in Atlanta, Forsyth and Cherokee. According to the
American Red Cross, about four million people need blood each year in the
United States, which equates to one person every two seconds. The need for
blood is ongoing because unused blood has an expiration of 42 days.

A single blood donation can be separated into components – red blood cells,
platelets and plasma - to help at least three patients. Red blood cells
help accident victims, surgery patients and those with anemia. Platelets
