The City of Alpharetta Recreation and Parks Department has opened enrollment in its new Pilates Fitness Program.
Classes will be held twice each week at Wills Park. Information on class schedules, fees and registration can be obtained by calling 678-297-6133 or sending an email to wprcprograms@alpharetta.ga.us.
Pilates is a mind-body form of exercise that helps develop strength, flexibility and stability in the core musculature of the body by emphasizing controlled breathing during movement and focusing on how the body is positioned.
Each session of the Pilates Fitness Program will consist of 40 minutes of Pilates followed by 35 minutes of outdoor aerobic conditioning. The aerobic conditioning is comprised of a combination of fast walking, running, hill work, sprints, and a cool down.
Alpharetta is also organizing Horseshoe Games at the Alpharetta Adult Activity Center located at 13450 Cogburn Road. The games will take place on Thursdays at 10am beginning Sept. 4.
Those interested in participating should call 678-297-6140 to signup.
