Johns Creek Mayor Mike Bodker and Milton Mayor Joe Lockwood have caught the Friday Night Lights fever.

The mayors placed a friendly bet about upcoming high school football games, each believing their respective home teams will be victorious. The bet demands the mayor of the losing team must wear the opposing team’s football jersey for the duration of a city council meeting.

Northview Principal Peter Zervakos, who turned out for the mayoral challenge, said to Lockwood, “I appreciate your willingness to wear our jersey,” Game on.

The good-sport mayors teased each other about the upcoming games and Bodker implored upon the Northview football team to fight hard to protect his honor. But as everyone knows, North Fulton football is serious business.

“Work hard,” Bodker said to the Titan team during a recent practice. “And when we win, I want the smelliest jersey for Milton.”

For Bodker and Johns Creek, there are two games at stake: Northview vs. Milton, Oct. 12 and Chattahoochee vs. Milton, Nov. 9.

The mayors plan to participate as Goodwill Ambassadors in Northview’s Oct. 12 homecoming, by carrying torches in the pre-game parade.

Northview's festivities begin with a parade, which begins at 5 p.m. at Wilson Creek Elementary School. The parade route winds its way into the Northview Stadium where there will be skits, bands and more! Game time is 7:30 p.m.
