Northview Stumbles Versus Norcross

After an impressive 21-7 opening season win over Mill Creek, the Northview Titans were brought back to reality by the Norcross Blue Devils Friday night at Titan Stadium. Norcross overcame an early 7-3 Northview lead to win going away, 31-7.
Listening to Northview head coach Don Savage after the Mill Creek win the previous week, you knew he was aware that one game doesn't make a season.
"We have a lot of improvement to make," said Savage, obviously seeing flaws in the Titans' performance. "We need to work on tackling, ball security, being more physical up front on both sides of the ball, and on executing our exact assignments on each play."
Keep in mind, Norhtview WON that game...
Unfortunately for Titan fans, the Norcross game proved Coach Savage had evaluated his teams' previous weeks performance accurately.
Northview's only touchdown against The Blue Devils came early in the game when junior running back Samoir Patrick scored from three yards out to give the Titans a short lived 7-3 lead.
It was lights out from there for Northview. The Blue Devils scored four unanswered points and coasted to a 31-7 win to run their record to 2-0 while Norcross evened its record to 1-1.
It was a rough night for Titan senior quarterback Justin Tuggle. The Boston College-bound Northview signal caller was constantly dodging the tenacious Blue Devil defense, completing only 6 passes for 43 yards. Tuggle was held to 59 yards rushing on 26 carries, a 2.2 yard per carry average.
Next up for the Titans, a home game against the Pope Greyhounds, 31-6 losers to Centennial on Friday.
