The new Fulton County Schools Superintendent Cindy Loe, Ph.D., began her first day on the job April 1. Loe started her day with a visit to Stonewall Tell Elementary School where she was greeted with a school chorus performance.
Loe visited kindergarten classrooms and read to students.
At noon Loe was officially sworn in at the Fulton County Schools Administrative Center by Fulton County Probate Judge Pinkie Toomer.
“Thank you so much for your confidence in me,” Loe said after taking her oaths of office. “I pledge to work with you as a partner and as a team to address the needs, the concerns, and to continue the great tradition that's already existing in Fulton County.”
Her swearing in was followed by a brief reception that allowed school system staff to briefly meet the new superintendent. Following the reception, she convened to a closed, executive session with the school board to discussed land, legal and personnel items.
Loe also participated in her first work session and Fulton County Board of Education meeting as superintendent.
Loe has 26 years of educational experience, and began working for Gwinnett schools in 1996 where she acted Associate Superintendent of Teaching and Learning. She has supervised all district principals and schools in the Gwinnett system and she has also overseen curriculum, including special education and continuous improvement.
Loe helped establish Gwinnett's standards-based curriculum, and helped improve testing and assessment.
