
Price supports student artists

Each year Rep. Tom Price (GA-6) hosts the Congressional Art Competition at the Chattahoochee Nature Center. The competition is part of a nationwide program that highlights the accomplishments of many talented young artists
Participants of the contest are young artist from local high schools in the Price’s district. The grand prizewinners were awarded art scholarships, and their artwork will be displayed for one year in the halls of Congress in Washington, DC.
The Savannah College of Art and Design awarded a renewable $5,000 per year Artistic Merit Scholarship to the first place winner.
The event was held on contest took place on March 29, with local artist from district six judging the competition.
“It is important to recognize the talent of these kids, give them an outlet and encourage their creativity,” said Lynn McIntyre, director of community relations for Chattahoochee Nature Center.
Angie Hendrick, a senior at Centennial High School in Roswell took home first-place in photo at the contest, and third-place overall.
