The Johns Creek city council approved a motion during their April 14 meeting to enter into an intergovernmental agreement with the city of Doraville. According to the agreement, Doraville will provide criminal history record services to the Johns Creek Police Department.
The information will be available through Georgia’s Criminal Justice Information System network, the Georgia Crime Information Center, the National Law Enforcement Telecommunications System, and the National Crime Information System.
When a driver is pulled over by a Johns Creek police officer, the officer can request information from Doraville. This information could include any prior arrests or outstanding warrants.
The city will pay Doraville $1,400 per month, or $16,800 annually. City Manager John Kachmar called the intergovernmental agreement a bargain.
"It will cost us more than that to hire somebody and pay them benefits," he said.
The council also approved the purchase of equipment for the Johns Creek Fire Department totaling $310,829.99. The approved purchases include two ladder trucks, along with other equipment used to fight fires.
