Deborah Pernice has been named Ocee Elementary School’s new principal. She will replace Jan Linscott, who is retiring at the end of the school year.

Pernice is currently the assistant principal at Medlock Bridge Elementary School. Before moving to Georgia in 1993, she taught elementary school in New York for 12 years. She also was a teacher and special education assistant at Crabapple Crossing Elementary School and a teacher at Sweet Apple Elementary School. She joined Medlock Bridge as an assistant principal in 2004.

Pernice’s background in curriculum and instruction, professional development and strategic planning made her an ideal candidate for Ocee Elementary’s principal. Her expertise in involving parents and the community in school events also is an asset.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from the State University of New York at Onenota, a master’s degree in counselor education from Long Island University and a specialist’s degree in educational administration and supervision from Lincoln Memorial University. She also received educational leadership certification from the University of Georgia.
