Chattahoochee makes quick exit from playoffs

First the good news.

The Grayson Rams got zero yards passing against the Chattahoochee Cougars Friday night at Britt-Moody Field in Loganville.

The bad news is The Rams did not throw a pass in the entire game. They didn't have to. Using a punishing running attack, Grayson rolled up 34 unanswered points in an easy 34-0 first round playoff win over Chattahoochee.

"The outcome of this game was never in doubt, I didn't think once the game got started," said Cougar Head Coach Terry Crowder, after the dust had cleared.

Chattahoochee Upset by Centennial 20-18

The Chattahoochee Cougars, ranked ninth in the state, winners of seven out of eight games, and poised to clinch the sub-region title, lost a heartbreaker to the Centennial Knights on Friday night, 20-18.

It was the way Chattahoochee lost that had the Cougar Nation second-guessing Head Coach Terry Crowder. With not one, but two of the region’s best field goal kickers on the roster, Crowder elected to go for it on fourth-and-goal from the Centennial one-yard line with 2:12 to go in the game, and trailing by two points.

Chattahoochee's 24-14 Win Over Alpharetta Propels Cougars to Top 10

The game was only thirty five seconds old when the Alpharetta Raiders began thinking their homecoming game against Chattahoochee would be something special.

It took only four plays for the Raiders to jump out to a quick 7-0 lead before most of the sellout crowd could settle in their seats. All four of the plays were passes; the last, from quarterback Matt Robinson to wide receiver Chad Christopher, covered the final twenty yards of a lightning-fast sixty yard drive.

Cougars Maul Titans 48-18

Only four miles separate Chattahoochee and Northview High Schools, providing the makings for a classic neighborhood rivalry. Unfortunately for Titan fans, it isn't working out that way. Chattahoochee has dominated the series since Northview opened its doors in 2002, winning five of the six games played between the schools.

The beat down continued Friday night at Cougar Stadium.

Chattahoochee Upsets 8th Ranked Roswell

The Chattahoochee Cougars took a major step toward establishing themselves as a state power Friday night with a thrilling 13-10 win over Roswell at Ray Manus Stadium.

The Hornets went into the game ranked among the top ten high school football powers in the state. They left stunned by the Cougars' ability to control the ball with the game on the line.

With Chattahoochee holding a slim three-point lead and 8:15 to go in the game, the Cougars went on a dramatic 15-play drive that took almost six minutes off the clock. The drive ended

Chattahoochee Overcomes Huge Lead to Beat Lassiter

Down by 17 points midway in the 3rd quarter, the Chattahoochee Cougars scored an unanswered 28 points to pull out a dramatic 35-32 win over the Lassiter Trojans Friday night at Cougar Stadium.

A packed house saw the Cougars score twice in just 69 seconds on two interceptions, both returned for touchdowns late in the third period, to take a 28-24 lead.

Cougars Lose to Wheeler

There was dirty laundry all over Kell Stadium in Marietta Friday night during the Chattahoochee-Wheeler game. Dingy yellow laundry, in the form of penalty markers.

The Cougars were flagged 13 times for 106 yards in a heartbreaking 21-17 loss to the Wheeler Wildcats. Two of the penalties were devastating, each wiping out long Chattahoochee touchdown runs.

Chattahoochee was trailing 21-17 with 2:43 left in the game when senior running back Jack Kelly burst up the middle, hurdled a tackler, and raced 22 yards for what the Hooch faithful were sure was the winning touchdown.

Cougars Off to Electrifying Start

Chattahoochee High School’s head football coach Terry Crowder called his team together just seconds after the Cougars won their season opener 35-3 over the Murphy, NC Bulldogs.

As the team gathered around him in the shadow of the goalposts, Crowder wasted no time getting his message out. “We’re going down there to win.”

Each player nodded in unspoken agreement. They all knew “down there” was Camden County, winners of 66 straight games against Georgia high schools and ranked 7th in the state.
