The Wailin’ Jennys- Georgia Theatre

One of today‚Äôs most respected folk groups, The Wailin‚Äô Jennys are touring for their most recent release, Fifteen. This long-awaited follow-up to Bright Morning Stars finds the trio bringing their passion and stellar musicianship to a carefully curated collection of some of their favorite songs, including tracks by Tom Petty, Emmylou Harris and Dolly Parton. For members Nicky Mehta, Ruth Moody and Heather Masse, Fifteen celebrates a 15-year musical partnership that has created three award-winning, Billboard-charting studio albums and one magical live recording and brought them a loyal worldwide fanbase. Steeped in the artistry and elegance that has defined their career, Fifteen presents The Wailin‚Äô Jennys at their very best. Produced by The Wailin‚Äô Jennys and engineered by Joby Baker, the album also features additional musicians Richard Moody (Ruth‚Äôs brother), Sam Howard, Adrian Dolan and Adam Dobres. Highlights include their moving interpretation of Emmylou Harris‚Äôs ‚ÄúBoulder to Birmingham,‚ÄĚ their update of Paul Simon‚Äôs ‚ÄúLoves Me Like a Rock‚ÄĚ (from a women‚Äôs point of view) and songs by Jane Siberry, Warren Zevon and Patty Griffin. There‚Äôs also a gorgeous full-band acoustic version of Tom Petty‚Äôs ‚ÄúWildflowers.‚ÄĚ They also do an achingly beautiful a cappella version of Dolly Parton‚Äôs ‚ÄúLight of a Clear Blue Morning‚ÄĚ that resonates as a call to hope in these troubled political times.

NPR wrote of their last Newport Folk Fest appearance, ‚ÄúThe Wailin’ Jennys are more than just impeccable bluegrass harmonizers; they’re also terrific bandleaders who give their traditional roots music a sense of real reverence.‚ÄĚ It‚Äôs this respect for their craft, as well as the Wailin‚Äô Jennys heartfelt, impeccable vocal performances, that has cemented the trio‚Äôs reputation in folk and roots music circles.

.: Dack Janiels [Bio] :.

Dack Janiels, better known as Tanner, was born and raised in the Bay Area. Dack comes from a background of being a Semi-Pro Skater and listening to excessive amounts of ‚Äėgangster‚Äô rap as a rebellious adolescent. After discovering bass music, Dack set out to craft his own blend of hard crushing bass and gangster vibes by pursuing an education in music production at ICON Collective. As a graduate of Icon Collective, he was able to hone and perfect his craft as Dack Janiels. He has grabbed attention from bass fans all over the world, for both his production and skills on the decks. Dack later co-founded the collective ‚Äė40oz Cult‚Äô – a group of young Pro-Skaters and DJ/Producers. The 40oz Cult collective is known for their releases, self-branded shows, and their highly anticipated clothing brand. Dack Janiels and his 40oz Collective define the term Anti-Establishment. Dack has released on labels such as Never Say Die, Disciple Round Table, Buygore, Firepower, and is set to release an EP later this fall. With coming off his destructive set at EDC, he will be showcasing numerous 40oz Cult shows later this fall and playing Insomniac‚Äôs Nocturnal Wonderland on the Bassrush Stage. Dack is on the path to cause havoc and melt the faces of all Cult members.

.: CID [Bio] :.

A successful DJ who has gone on to become an in-demand producer,¬†CID¬†(aka¬†Carlos Cid) was born in Queens, New York. He developed a passion for house and dance music at an early age; when he was 11, he was regularly hopping the bus to record stores where he could listen to the latest dance singles and chat with DJs who were stocking up on new material.¬†CID¬†was just 12 years old when he started DJ’ing himself, and as he matured, he developed an estimable reputation, spinning at major events in the New York area. In time,¬†CID¬†was performing across the country and in Europe as he began making inroads into producing and remixing. In 2012,¬†CID¬†earned a Grammy Award for his work on¬†Cedric Gervais’ remix of¬†Lana Del Rey’s “Summertime Sadness,” and the success of the track boosted his profile. Soon¬†CID¬†was collaborating with artists such as¬†Kaskade,¬†Sharam, and¬†Ti√ęsto, both in the studio and on-stage.¬†

You’re invited to come get in the festive spirit along the Boulevard, but this year we have expanded the celebration to 12 days of holiday cheer to kick off the season!
The holiday season might look a little different this year, but that doesn’t mean we can’t celebrate with extra cheer. The Lighting of Avalon: A Twelve Day Celebration will kick off the holiday season at Avalon, replacing our annual one-day tree lighting event with 12 days full of smaller, festive, fun events for the whole family!
Monday, November 30th:
7PM | 12 Nights of Lights
Guests will be dazzled by a spectacular fireworks show surrounding Avalon’s 40-foot tree on top of Concierge.
